Overview

Even new cities like MK are faced with increasing environmental issues. Household waste is rising rapidly as our population grows.
Who should deal with such problems?
We believe sustainability should be the heart and focus of every community and a common concern for everyone.
Collectively we can use new approaches to off-set environmental harm by re-using local resources more effectively as individuals and increasing the positive impact when scaled-up within communities. Working with waste in positive ways can offer benefits to people and contributes to solving wider global problems.

Be Eco Aware, a community creativity session where hands and brains engage to inspire, design, learn & create.
We focus on ‘Frugality’ how to re-use re-purpose, restore & re-fashion household items & clothing.
Not your average craft group Be Eco Aware has an impressive technological capability with professional equipment YOU will use to create a ‘new’ eco-aware product to keep, in less than 2 hours.

While applying hands-on skills we simultaneously learn about ethics in manufacturing specifically the Fast Moving Consumer Goods and Fashion industries and how we can off-set environmental harm by re-using local resources more effectively as individuals and increasing the positive impact when scaled-up within communities.

The aim is to hold 6 sessions over 3 days. in Coffee Hall, Lakes Estate and Greenleys. 3 sessions for 12-16 years and 3 sessions for adults (16+).
It's a whirlwind tour of the industries and products that we are all familiar with but we don't ask often enough 'where do these products come from?' and 'what is the real cost?'

We explore the positives and negatives of manufacturing 'new' and how to re-purpose and restore products using a number of different techniques while we learn about the impact we create.

No experience necessary and any age or background welcome.
