Live webcam views of Milton Keynes at key sites - linked to from one promoting website

  • Added: 01/09/15

Overview

Milton Keynes has large areas of parkland, green corridors and heritage sites which are unknown to many within MK and indeed outside of MK (tourists or cyber tourists). The idea is to setup a website with list of 'live' webcam views from accross the city to promote its daily use for residents, visitors and cyber visitors alike. It will broadcast day and night so you have a view of some of our many parks views, vistas and daily activities. Also views of our many heritage buildings, sites and artworks. You will be able to view these cams in all weathers at all times of year giving visitors a better impression of what MK is really like and it's not just Concrete Cows and Roundabouts.

Milton Keynes has large areas of parkland, green corridors and heritage sites which are unknown to many within MK and indeed outside of MK (tourists or cyber tourists). A quick search of Milton Keynes online does not show any live webcam shots of our key sites to promote them or educate people on why it is even there. If you do the same in other key cities accross the UK and the globe you will see their key tourist sites and 'other' interesting areas linked to. It can also give a daily/hourly view on the look of the site for those who cyber visit (i.e. cannot get there to experience the MK way of life), see the weather (for those wishing to visit that day), to see if it is busy or just to watch in general.

Live webcams could be setup to watch over our key sites (e.g. Concrete Cows (Bancroft), Pagoda in Willen, Central Square in CMK, Frog Clock in CMK, Iron Aquaduct in Wolverton, Secret Garden in Wolverton, The Toot in Shenley, Bletchley Park, Open University, Campbell park especially during festivals, The Grand Union Canal, Linford Lakes, many of our Town High Streets, haunted sites in infra red and of course in many of our beautiful park sites across the city. The list is endless and this can be added to for special events such as IF:MK, Rugby World Cup, Cyclo Cross, Red Bull Homerun, Christmas Light Switch On's, again the list is endless.

There could even be a webcam being broadcast live on a big screen located somewhere in the City Centre or Campbell Park as part of a larger Public Square project.

To most people outside of Milton Keynes, they have a misconception of MK as being about Concrete Cows, Roundabouts with boring concrete buildings. This could go a long way to disproving this fact. The webcams could be sponsored by some of the MK:SMART sponsors who may already have services and buildings in these locations, or by other companies (possibly by allowing a little element of advertising as an incentive). It could be a low cost, quick win project assuming there is an appetite for it.
